Today, Marie Diane Picot, Director of Human Resources, shares in an interview how BigMat has transformed its recruitment and retention strategy for so-called “scarce” talent profiles.

Mission Objectives:

1. Identify and prioritize, within the construction materials trading and distribution sector:

  • The drivers of motivation
  • The challenges in sales and logistics professions

2. Inform BigMat’s employer brand communication to highlight its strengths in alignment with expressed expectations and reinforce its strategic focus areas.

For the first time in 2022, BigMat turned to Synomia to assist with its strategy for recruiting and retaining “hard-to-find” job profiles. What does this collaboration bring you?

“The partnership with Synomia was immediately seen as an opportunity to understand and adapt to the ‘market’. It allowed us to better grasp the dynamics affecting these profiles and address them in the right way, using the appropriate levers.”

We met the Synomia team at a critical moment for our company:

Our members were struggling to attract and retain employees. The landscape had shifted after the pandemic, and managers and business owners felt a sense of losing direction, but couldn’t quite explain what was happening.

They wanted to understand which levers to act upon to attract talent.

Two specific professions/fields were particularly concerned: logistics and sales. We felt a gap between the expectations of candidates, the expectations of employees post-pandemic, but without knowing how to adapt.

Synomia helps to objectify perceptions and return to the facts. Thus, and this is fundamental, Synomia’s analyses provide a necessary overview, a prerequisite for understanding the changes occurring in the world of work.

How do you use Synomia’s insights within BIGMAT (for example, with your members, your business teams, or the governance of the network)?

“We have widely communicated the industry analyzes to the governing bodies of the Group, to the members, and to their HR departments.”

Why is what you obtain from Synomia unique or different from other BIGMAT partners?

“First of all, the quality and professionalism of Synomia’s team are evident from the very first interactions. Their listening, attention, understanding of needs, and ability to deliver within very short deadlines are highly appreciated. Working with them is very pleasant, especially because the relationship is based on cooperation, exchange, and pedagogy. While they use artificial intelligence for their studies, there is also a significant amount of human and emotional intelligence. It becomes clear that their approach is to support their clients in building a long-lasting and sustainable relationship.”
